Best Tours You Can Book to Brasov

Brasov, one of the most beautiful and popular cities in Romania, is situated right in the heart of the country, in the region of Transylvania.

The medieval atmosphere and the stunning mountain landscapes make this city a desirable winter destination.

Booking tours to Brasov is an efficient way to get around. The city is only a two-hour drive away from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, so it’s very convenient to get there.

The old part of the city is very well preserved and it will look even better when the streets are covered with snow.

Here are three tours you can book to visit this gorgeous medieval city.

1. Two Castles in One Day

Since Brasov is so close to Bucharest, you can choose a 12-hour tour such as this one to visit the city. But as you can tell from the name of the tour, it includes the visit of two castles also.

Peles-Castle-Romania

The first stop will be at Peles Royal Castle in Sinaia, which is a mountain resort, considered the “Pearl of the Carpathians”. Peles Castle was the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family. During the winter season, if the tour is booked on Mondays or Tuesdays, then you’ll be visiting the Rasnov Citadel in Rasnov because Peles Castle is closed.

The second stop will be at the Bran Castle (also known as Dracula’s Castle), which is one hour away from Sinaia. This castle dates back in the 14th century and it served as a military fortress back in the day.

The last stop will be Brasov where you’ll discover the old town, The Black Church (a symbol of the city), and you’ll get to see one of the narrowest streets in Europe, also known as Rope Street.

2. The Medieval Transylvania Tour

On day one, you will get to visit Curtea de Arges Monastery (built at the beginning of the 16th century), Cozia Monastery (built in the 14th century), and the last stop will be Sibiu, a medieval city where you’ll be staying overnight.

On day two, we’ll go from Sibiu to Biertan village to visit the biggest fortified church in Transylvania, then onto Sighisoara (which is another beautiful medieval citadel), and finally, we’ll arrive in Brasov.

On day three, we’ll explore the city and then head to Bucharest but not before we make a stop in Bran and Sinaia to visit the two castles mentioned in the first tour.

3. Transylvania Break

This tour will last only two days, but it will allow you to explore and get a taste of the Transylvania region and its stunning medieval cities.

There will be three stops on day one:

  • The Peles Castle in Sinaia;
  • Brasov. The visit will include lunch in a traditional restaurant, a lovely walk on the narrow old city streets, and you’ll also get to see The Council Square, The Council Tower, and The Black Church.
  • Sighisoara, where you’ll have a delicious dinner and take a short walk in the citadel.

The second day will focus on:

  • Exploring Sighisoara;
  • Visiting Bran Castle and then returning to Bucharest.
