The city of Sighisoara is one of the most famous Romanian tourist destinations, and it was first documented in the 13th century. This small and picturesque town located in the heart of Transylvania is still home to one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in Europe. Legend has it that Vlad the Devil, the father of Vlad Tepes (Vlad The Impaler), lived here, and Vlad The Impaler was born here in 1431.
