Itinerary - The Black Sea & Romania Danube Delta Tour

Day 1BUCHAREST – CONSTANTA – TULCEA ( 352 km)

The Black Sea & Danube Delta Tour in Romania starts with a pickup from your hotel at 08:00 am and drive to Constanta, the oldest city on the Romanian territory (657 BC). In the area, a Greek colony called Tomis was founded. Later on, the Romans have conquered the Greek settlements and renamed them Constantiana, after the sister of the Roman Emperor Constantin the Great. Nowadays, Constanta became the largest harbor at the Black Sea and the fourth largest commercial harbor in Europe. In the Old Town you will visit: The Museum of History & Archeology, The Roman Edifice with mosaic (the largest mosaic from the Roman Empire), the statue representing Publius Ovidius Naso, The Muslim Mosque built by the first king of Romania, Carol Ist as an homage to the local Muslim community (going up in the Minaret Tower you can have a splendid panoramic view of the whole city of Constanta), The Orthodox Cathedral dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul (monument of Byzantine architectural style), The Aquarium Constanta, the first public aquarium in Romania, and the Genoese lighthouse first built in the 13th century, and rebuilt in the present shape in 1858-1860.

Lunch in Constanta followed by a drive to Tulcea.

The Romanian city of Tulcea is known as “The gate to the Danube Delta.” The city’s Greek ancient name was Aegyssus, dating from the 8th century B.C. and later conquered by the Roman Empire. After a walk on the harbor’s promenade, you will check into your hotel for dinner & accommodation.

Day 2TULCEA – DANUBE DELTA (boat ride) – BUCHAREST (350 km)

Breakfast in the morning at the hotel.

Today, you will go deeper into Danube Delta on a boat tour, the major attraction of the day.

Danube Delta is unique in the world, and it is the largest delta of a river in Europe. Here there are 327 species of birds, 133 species of fish, and typical vegetation of wetlands. Thanks to all these natural riches, The Danube Delta was classified as part of UNESCO world heritage in 1991.

During the Danube Delta boat tour, you will see one of Europe’s most beautiful places, including outstanding and typical landscapes (water lands) and many birds as pelicans, cormorants, egrets, herons, swans, etc.

After the boat tour, you will enjoy lunch and then prepare to leave Danube Delta’s natural lands and head back to Bucharest.

Drop off at your hotel and end of the tour.
