Itinerary

Join the Slanic Salt Mine & Wine Tasting Tour in Romania to explore the largest salt mine in Europe, followed by a local wine cellar visit. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of the cellar followed by a wine tasting and a traditional Romanian lunch.

Unirea Mine in Slanic Prahova, in Romania, is the largest salt mine in Europe, and it is just 100 km north of Bucharest. The salt mine is closed for extraction but is open for visitors, featuring a microclimate with natural air-conditioning and constant temperature. It comprises 14 chambers with trapezoidal profiles, having a 10m opening to the ceiling and 32m to the ground, a height of 54m, and a wall inclination angle of around 60 degrees.

On our way back to Bucharest, we will cross the picturesque hills that form one of Romania’s most famous wine regions, Dealu Mare. We will stop at one of the local wineries to learn about wine craft and taste excellent Romanian wines.

Our journey home will take us through the city of Ploiesti – the closest town to Bucharest. Expect to be back at your accommodation by around 4.30 – 5.00 pm.
