Bucharest – Bran – Poenari – Bucharest
For years Dracula remained a mystery for most of those who read Bram Stocker’s novel. They come to Romania in search of this fearful vampire and looking forward to find out interesting stories and legends about him. Not too many people know the fact that Bram Stocker had as a source of inspiration the life of a cruel, Valachian ruler, Vlad the Impaler, a very important personality in the history of Romania.
Join us on the footsteps of Dracula and visit places which will reveal you the real story of this legendary character. During one day you will see Bran castle in Transylvania, the medieval castle which became so famous thanks to the legend of Dracula.
You will also visit the real fortress which used to belong to the Wallachian ruler, Vlad the Impaler. Poenari Fortress is located on the top of a hill surrounded by impressive mountain scenery. Prepare to climb 1480 steps for about 20-30 minutes on a trek of aprox 1 km. The landscape up there, is worth doing this.
In the evening you will head back to Bucharest.
- Those who cannot climb the steps to reach Poenari Fortress, can wait for the group at the base of the hill.
- This tour is showing you some of the most interesting and beautiful places of Romania which are not very close to Bucharest. Therefore, before booking the tour we advise you to carefully check the itinerary.
- Although most of our clients are delighted with the tour, please take into account the long distances and the relative short period of the visiting time.
Please note that the time table is subjected to be changed due to heavy city traffic and road work.
